The Audit’s Brian Costar and Peter Brent participated in a roundtable public hearing, convened by the Joint Standing Committee on Electoral Matters, discussing the federal government’s second electoral reform green paper. The paper, entitled Strengthening Australia’s Democracy, was released on 23 September 2009 by the Special Minister of State, Senator Joe Ludwig; while the first green paper focused on donations, funding and the expenditure framework, the second green paper canvasses broader reforms of Australia’s electoral architecture.
